Hey ya’ll! Thanks for stopping by!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a southern country girl (though currently living in the city) with an amazing techy husband and a beautiful baby girl. I love my Catholic faith, my little family, and my country roots.
My blogging story starts a couple years before this blog, though. After graduating college I got a job and started working, but I found that the fast-paced, high-pressure, 9 to 5 didn’t fit me… at all. In my spare time I discovered and fell in love with blogs. I loved meeting all the wonderful people and hearing their stories and seeing the things they created or did. I thought maybe I could do that someday.
Fast forward 3 years and I’ve married the man of my dreams, we have a beautiful baby girl, and we just moved into our first house. Oh, and I was now a full time mom and homemaker! I loved it! I was very busy with making a home and taking care of our little newborn and I was enjoying every minute. In the back of my mind, I still thought about starting a blog if things ever slowed down a little.
Well, things did slow down and I was starting to itch for something creative to do with myself. And I came back to blogging. So, I decided to give it a shot and here I am!
WHY THE ART OF JOY LIVING?
I love simplifying and organizing, writing and homemaking. I love creating a beautiful, happy home for our little family. I even love cleaning (sometimes)! I love trying to make each day better, trying to make our lives a little simpler, a little happier, trying to make our house more of a home.
But at the heart of all that simplification and list-making and system-creating is my love for the slow life. For front porch sitting, for sipping sweet tea with a friend, for watching sunsets and counting stars. For the little moments.
But try as I might, I just can’t enjoy those moments when the laundry is a mountain in the washroom, or my to-do list is a mile long inside my head, or the kitchen is still dirty from dinner. I will be sitting there trying to enjoy the moment, all the while stressing out inside my head that I forgot to make a doctor’s appointment, or we don’t have any clean clothes to wear tomorrow. Does that ever happen to you? Yeah, so that’s why the art of joy living. So the stressful moments don’t happen. At least not in the middle of a sunset! 🙂
The Art of Joy Living is about organizing and simplifying and habit making… so that when the day is over and the stars are coming out, we can sit on the front porch with sweet tea and enjoy the little moments.
I hope you’ll follow along as I share my journey toward a simpler, happier life and some of my little joys with you, and hopefully inspire you to find the little joys in your life! If you love these things too, I invite you to stay a while and join me in my journey!
