This week I’m sharing the progress we’ve made on our house room by room since we bought it two years ago. Every single room in our house is still a work in progress, but we’re getting closer to making it feel like home one room at a time. Or in our case, the whole house a little bit at a time.
Toddler Girl’s Bedroom Before
Our house has three bedrooms, the master and two small bedrooms at the front. As you can see, we first used this bedroom as Hubby’s office. (Sorry about the grainy “before” pictures, but the only pics I took were a few shots with my phone to show a friend. That was back before I really started blogging, so I didn’t really have a reason to take “before” pics.)
Toddler Girl’s Bedroom Update
Our baby girl’s bedroom is definitely a work in progress, but it looks so much better now that everything is painted. At the time, we hadn’t decided if “Baby Boy” (6 months) and “Angel” (2 years) would share a room or not so we painted it white just in case. I didn’t want to subject our little guy to a pink or lavender room! Since then, we’ve decided that they both sleep better for now if our little guy has his own room. That way he doesn’t wake up his sister with his war cry for midnight munchies.
(On a side note in case you’re wondering, “Angel” is two years old, but we’re still using a crib for her because she’s disabled. It’s easier for me to bend over to pick her up and the railing protects her from rolling out of bed. She can’t sit up by herself, or stand at all, so we don’t have to worry about the railing being too low.)
The rocking chair is great for rocking either of the little ones to sleep at night. They both love to be rocked! The chair belonged to Hubby’s parents when they were first married, so it’s special to both of us. I love seeing Hubby rock the babies in the same chair that he was rocked in. The stool may seem a little out of place, but it’s my little side table for water or other stuff when I’m in here with the little ones. The blue rug is actually an inexpensive find from Ross.
One of the things I love to do for our home is to make homemade art. You may have seen my other paintings in our guest bathroom and our entryway. I love that each piece has so much meaning and love in it. This one is a peach rose for our little “Angel”. I wanted a beautiful, feminine frame with a vintage look and I finally found this one at Michael’s. (This post is not sponsored, I’m just sharing things I’ve found that we use and love.)
We had a changing table for “Angel” when she was littler, but I never liked it. There was just so much wasted space, but never enough room for storage. As soon as I found room in our budget, I got an inexpensive 6 drawer dresser off of Craigslist. It’s so much more functional for her since it serves as a changing table now, but can transition to a regular dresser for her when she’s a little bigger. (Oh, I just realized you can see tape residue on the drawers. Ooops. I’ve tried to get it off a couple times, but no success yet. Any advice?)
So far we’ve painted Angel’s room a fresh, clean white, bought a rug and a dresser, and made a painting for her room. I have plans to decorate Angel’s room before the holidays this year to give her a special place of her own, so hopefully it all turns out well. It’s not finished yet, but we’re making progress. I haven’t gotten around to doing anything at all with Baby Boy’s room, so this is where the tour stops for now!
